The Culinary Games
To celebrate the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games we are running a fantastic recipe competition, culminating in March 2014.
The Culinary Games competition is being run in conjunction with Game on Scotland, the official education programme of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and its legacy. Game on Scotland (http://www.gameonscotland.org/) aims to provide inspiration and learning and teaching opportunities related to Glasgow 2014 and other momentous events happening throughout Scotland in the coming years.
SportScotland has allocated every local authority a second and third team to support during the Games – visit http://www.sportscotland.org.uk/schools/support_a_2nd_team to find out more. East Renfrewshire have been allocated Tuvalu and India as our second teams, and we have decided that for the Culinary Games we will be supporting Tuvalu.
This means that we will be creating a theme day around the food of Tuvalu. On the 6th March 2013 , to coincide with International School Meals day we will be running a Tuvalu theme day, and we will be publishing our recipes for that day on this website.
A nominated member of one of our school catering teams will liaise with a pupil/pupils to create a main course recipe and this recipe will be featured across our region in all our schools.
And you can get involved even if your school isn’t taking part.
In conjunction with our industry association (ASSIST FM) we are also running a Scottish School Pupil recipe competition – open to every school pupil in East Renfrewshire. We want you to come up with a recipe – it can be for any Commonwealth country – it just has to be fun and delicious! There will be prizes for the best 10 recipes, and if you are one of the top ten your recipe will be featured in our electronic Commonwealth recipe book.
